Google Stadia

Overview

Stadia was a streaming platform for games powered by Google's cloud infrastructure. It was unveiled at a keynote during the 2019 Game Developers Conference. It allowed users to play games via a video feed to devices like a Chromecast Ultra, Android phone, or Chrome web browsers.

The Stadia service offered a paid "Pro" tier and a lower-end free tier. Games were for sale on the service as opposed to being part of the subscription.

The service launched with twenty-two games.

Google announced on September 29, 2022 that all Stadia services would end on January 18, 2023. Google refunded all purchases made by those who bought into Stadia at any point.

Compatibility

Stadia can be played with a variety of gamepads on a computer, on a TV with a Chromecast Ultra, and on the following mobile devices:

• Pixel 2, 3, 3a, 4, 4a
• Samsung S8, S8+, S8 Active, Note 8
• Samsung S9, S9+, Note 9
• Samsung S10, S10+, Note 10, Note 10+
• Samsung S20, S20+, S20 Ultra
• Asus ROG Phone, ROG Phone II
• Razer Phone, Razer Phone II
